SkinCeutical Retinol 0.5

Hello Lovelies. Are you excited for the weekend? I am! I had a very tumultuous, stressful week and I cannot wait for the weekend to charge my body with positive energy and to do some meditation.
I am also planning on pampering myself and part of that process is to deeply clean my skin and to apply a pea size of Retinol 0.5 before bedtime. As many of you know, retinol helps to fight the damage on the skin caused by sun exposure, also helps to improve elasticity and to reduce wrinkles. I have been using Retinol 0.5 from SkinCeutical and it is really effective. I have to confess that I had some reaction to the product because I didn't follow the applications instructions correctly. You really have to apply just a pea size of this product. Over applying this product might burn your skin and cause some peeling. Once I understood that less is more, I have noticed a big reduction on the size of my pores and more radiance on my skin. I haven't seen big improvement on my fine lines and wrinkles, but I guess that I have to let the product work for a little longer. Ah, please, please avoid the eye area completely while applying retinol since this can really irritate this sensitive area (ouch!)

So, for those of you who have not try retinol yet, I recommend giving it a try. You can find Retinol 0.5 on their website here or here

LA PRAIRIE ANTI-AGING EYE SPF 15

I want to talk about this eye cream that I bought at a Duty Free in Miami on my way to my last trip to Honduras. This is the first time that I buy a very high end product, but I am happy to say that it worth the investment.  Its creamy formula is very moisturizer (a big plus for skin care, specially during winter time) I have been using it for 3 weeks straight and I've started to notice a visible improvement on my eye area: my bags are less visible and the area looks brighter. Nail Polish for the weekend

Hello Lovelies!
I am so happy that tomorrow I am off from work. I need more hours during the day to do everything that I have to do and to sleep at least seven hours every night. Anyway, I am planning on sleeping in tomorrow and to have a nice afternoon with my Maluquito.
Now, jumping to another subject, I have been suffering from very weak, peeling nails for a very long time. I found a very nice product from Sally Hansen that really works. I will talked about it in a later post. Since I have healthy finger nails again, I have been obsessed with nail polishes. My mom is a nail polish junky and I like the bold colors that she is wearing lately. I went to American Apparel the other day and I found these three nail polishes:

I didn't go for the fluorescent colors, (baby steps here) but I picked this Passport Blue, which I love! It is similar to the blue color from the Sally Hansen Complete Salon Manicure collection.

I also got these NYC nail polishes at Duane Reade for $1.50 each. Definitely a bargain and I was surprised to see how well they look with just two coats.

This Flat Iron Green, came out to look more of a gray shade than green, but I still love it and it lasted a week with out chipping.

I will suggest to give this NYC nail polishes a try and don't get mislead because of their price. They are actually great quality for a low price.

The Right Foundation

Hello Lovelies! How are you?
In the process of wanting to have a flawless looking skin, we all go on the quest to find the right foundation, the one that matches our skin tone, the one with staying power, the one that controls oil, the one that minimize the appearence of pores, the one with the right coverage, and etc..... Since I started to wear make-up, I had never found the right foundation for my skin type, until now.

Revlon Colorstay foundation is  the perfect foundation for me. It helps me to control my oily T-zone, it has good coverage and it is long wearing.
It is very important to chose the right foundation for your skin type, so this make-up foundation comes in two presentations: Normal/ Dry or Combination/Oily, comes in different shades and it is inexpensive (around $12.00 at drugstores).
I prefer liquid foundations because I have combination skin an the application is easier. I have noticed though, that Revlon Colorstay blends better using my fingers than a foundation brush, but that is just my preference. I have spent a lot of money on foundations that were not so great or that never did their job and finally, my search is over!

Have you tried Flora by Gucci? I love, love this fragrance! I highly recommended for those of you who, well; like floral notes. It is not overpowering (but, remember: less is more) and it has a touch of elegance and history behind its creation. As said on self.com "this scent has a "feisty kick" that just may "put a pep in your step"" and I couldn't agree more with them.

I don't know you, but I feel that when the temperatures dropped down, the aroma of the fragrances last longer. This will be a good addition to your perfume collection.

Es una fragancia que no es escandalosa (pero recuerden: menos es mas) y tiene un toque de elegancia e historia detras de su creacion. No se usteds, pero siento que cuando las temperaturas bajan, el aroma de las fragancias dura más tiempo. Esta podria ser una buena adicion a su coleccion de perfumes.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY MAMI!!

I want to dedicate this post to my beautiful mother whose birthday was yesterday and we had an amazing time together. I also want to say to her THANK YOU MAMI, because she was the one who started this incredible adventure for me. Mom, you never hesitate and here we are now. I love you. Happy Birthday!!!!

 

We had lunch at Osteria II Paiolo an Italian restaurant in Williamsburg. I highly recommend it.

My mom is also very stylish. She loves skirts and boots, and she has always said that Fall is her favorite season of the year and her trade mark are headbands (she has worn headbands all her life). In this photo she is wearing an Anthropologie skirt that she found of the sale rack last weekend. Immediately she said: "It fit me and I am buying it" (she didn't try it on).

She also loves nail polishes and wear them in all colors. That is something that I don't dare to do myself. I am more conservative than she is, but I am really loving that Thinking of Blue color from the Complete Salon Manicure collection from the Sally Hansen. Maybe I will get my own.




My mom is funny, is crazy and is the most loving mother that I could have asked for, but definitely, she is not a good photographer. Well, she tries!

Im just want to share with you my opinions on these two products.

Let's start with the Smooth Operator Amanzonian Clay Illuminating Serum. This product works as a highlighter for the face. The first time I put it on I noticed that my face had a subtle glitter ( I had to admit that I was wondering where that glitter was coming from) I like the smooth texture that it gives to the skin and it has a little tint that combines really good with my skin tone. Now, I have to say that I found it to be a little greasy. Not heavy on the skin, this is actually a really light formula, but a little bit oily. My forehead was really shinny the first couple of days that I used it. But, with the change in the weather and with the low humidity, I won't workout a big sweat in months so, I started to see a big improvement in the use of this product.

So my suggestion is: This product gives a gorgeous glow, but if your skin is oily, limit its use for the cold months.

Final verdict for this product: 3 1/2 points

Following it is the Evercolor Poreless Face Defender. I talked about this product on my previous post. OMG, this is the best product that I have ever tried. It leaves the skin looking flawless. The only problem I have is the little sponge applicator that came with it. It is a very little flat sponge that I will have to replace in a few days with a better one. I got this product in a promotional kit, but I believe that if you get it on its own, the sponge applicator is bigger and thicker and it will definitively makes the application easier. If you decide to give this a try, keep in mind that this is not a powder. This is actually a solid product that you pat on in your face. It feels like wax to the touch, but smoother. Do I make sense?

Anyway, I am very happy with it.

Final Verdict: 4 1/2 points.

Next week, I am going on my first business trip to Washington, D.C and I am very excited and a little anxious. I want to give a good impression, so me buying a new coat is more a necessity than an obsession. So, I am thinking about it as an investment.

Pretty Face All Day Long!!!

I want to say that I am so sorry for my absence. Many things have happened since my last post, but I am back and I want to talk about my new discovery.

As I said, I have been going through some good and bad things lately and it started to take a tool on me. I noticed that my skin was looking really dull and my current makeup routine was not helping.
Through one of my favorite beauty bloggers, Emily Eddington; I have heard about the Mally Beauty products and about the marvelous work that they do on the skin.
Emily has given the Mally Beauty makeup products outstanding reviews that I was very intrigue to try them out. But of course, I needed a big incentive to try on these makeup products. Until, Emily passed the information that QVC was having a special value for these products containing seven pieces of high performance Mally Defend your Beauty Collection and I have to say that I am no at all disappointed. These products are AMAZING.
I was so anxiously waiting to get my order that when I did it was like Christmas has come early. My favorites are the Poreless Face Defender and the Face Defender Blush in Pink Perfection. The Face Defender is like none other makeup product out there. It gives the skin a healthy radiant glow and you just have to dad it on the skin after you had applied your foundation. And the blush adds a youthful pink color to the cheeks. Also, the mascara is lovely and helps to create long, full and sexy eyelashes.  I just love the whole set. My mom was so in love with these products that she is also ordering her value set.

Now, I want to clarify something. This blog does not have the intention to make any of my readers to go and spend lots of money in makeup to make you feel pretty or valuable. The beauty of each individual comes from the inside within us. Beauty comes from who we are inside and from what we have to offer and the good actions that we do for others and for ourselves. Let's do not forget this and let's be present in the present moment because nothing is for granted. I just got one of those moments........

Okay, with that being said, I also want to add that I just want to share with you, my lovelies; my opinions on a variety of things, not just about makeup or clothing. Who knows what my thoughts will be tomorrow. Would I be posting about outfits for the season or would I be asking you for your advice on how to say the right thing to a stranger who thinks that Barnes and Noble is a library and not a BOOK STORE and that she is not supposed to go there to read an entire book and expect that everybody around her is going to be quiet? Lady please..... Anyway...

Hola mis Queridas:Quiero decirles que siento mucho el haber estado ausente. Muchas cosas han pasado desde mi último post, pero estoy de regreso y quiero hablarles de mi nuevo descubrimiento.

Como mencioné antes, he pasado por algunas situaciones últimamente (buenas y otras no tan buenas) y note que mi piel lo estaba comenzando a resentir. Se miraba opacada y cansada y mi rutina de maquillaje no estaba ayudando a que se viera mejor.
A travez de una de mis bloggers de belleza favoritos, Emily Eddington; escuché hablar de los productos de belleza Mally y de lo bien que trabajan en la piel.
Emily les ha dado a estos productos de maquillaje buenisimos comentarios y no pude evitar el sentirme intrigada a probarlos. Pero por supuesto, necesitaba de un gran incentivo para dar paso a estos productos en mi coleccion de maquillaje y cuando supe que QVC tenía una oferta especial que contiene siete piezas de maquillaje de alto rendimiento de la coleccion Defiende Tu Belleza de Mally no dude en comprarlos y tengo que decir que no estoy en absoluto decepcionada ya que estos productos son increíbles. 
Estaba tan ansiosa a la espera de recibir mi pedido que cuando por fin lo recibi, fue como si la Navidad hubiera llegado temprano. Estos productos le han dado a mi rostro una apariencia radiante y juvenil y ayudan a que el maquillaje dure impecable por mas tiempo. La verdad es que son una maravilla y estoy fascinada con los resultados. Uno de mis productos favoritos es el rubor para las mejillas que es de un color rosa muy delicado.

Ahora, quiero aclarar algo. Este blog no tiene la intención de hacer a ninguna(o) de mis lectoras(os) el ir a gastar un montón de dinero en maquillaje para que se sientan lindas(os) o valiososas(os). La belleza de cada individuo viene de su interior. La belleza se trata de lo que somos por dentro y de lo que tenemos para ofrecerle a los demas y de las buenas acciones que hacemos por los demás y por nosotros mismos. No hay que olvidarnos de esto y vamos a estar presentes en el momento presente, porque nada en la vida es una garantía.

Ahora bien, también quiero añadir que yo sólo quiero compartir con ustedes, mis queridas lectoras; mis opiniones sobre una variedad de cosas, no sólo sobre maquillaje o ropa. Quién sabe cual sera mi pensamiento mañana. ¿Estare escribiendo acerca de conjuntos de ropa para la temporada o estare pidiendoles su consejo sobre como decirle lo correcto a un extraña que cree que Barnes & Noble es una librería y no una tienda de libros y que no se supone que debe ir alli con la intencion de leer un libro completo y esperar a que todas las personas a su alrededor esten en silencio? Señora por favor.....

Hello Lovelies! It has been some time since my last post. I have been a little busy lately and a lot of things have happened and not all of them are good things, anyway. "When Life Hands You Lemons Crack Open The Gin" literally.
In a more happy note, I want to dedicate this post to my friend Sarah. She is moving to Arizona for work where she will be wearing a more business casual attire and she suggested me to make a post about wearing jeans at the office and I thought that that was a great idea.
So, I wanted to put together a few affordable and chic outfits and this is the result.  Everything is under $100.00 except for the J Brand 29'' Skinny jeans which bright red color is so irresistible that I couldn't help but to include it in this list.
This is my personal style, but while I was putting this together I kept my friend Sarah on my mind all the time. So, I think I can say that I was inspired by her. I hope she likes it and I hope that everyone likes it, too.

En una nota más feliz, quiero dedicar este post a mi amiga Sarah. Ella se va para Arizona por trabajo y el código de vestir será mas relajado e informal y ella me sugirió hacer un post acerca de como usar jeans en la oficina y pensé que era una gran idea.
Entonces, quise armar algunos atuendos que fueran económicos y elegantes y este es el resultado. Cada pieza cuesta menos de $100.00 a excepción de los J Brand 29" Skinny jeans cuyo brillante color rojo es tan irresistible que no pude dejar de incluirlo en esta lista.
Este es mi estilo personal, pero mientras estuve armando estos conjuntos tuve a mi amiga Sarah en mente todo el tiempo. Así que creo que puedo decir que ella fue mi inspiración. Espero que le gusten y espero que a todos ustedes les gusten también.

Fall 2011 in NYC

Hello Lovelies! OMG......I can't be more excited! Thanks to Polyvore.com I was able to post my FIRST set on MY blog. I know that for many of you this is like a piece of cake, or like stealing candies from a child. But for me, who doesn't like to read instructions and I prefer to figure things out on my own; it is a big accomplished. Dah!
Anyway, there is something about me that you should know: I love the red color. Love it, love it. I actually like any shades of red (are the peach, coral, orange shades of red?) because they are so vibrant and so lively and in my opinion, the best secret to fight a low mood.
So, getting to the point: I am already looking for some clothing pieces for this Fall/2011 since it looks that we will be falling on RED.
I've gotten many red ideas from Ann Taylor's fall catalog. They have dresses, skirts, blouses and accessories that are honoring the red color trend. And of course, it is also a good idea to mix your pieces with some floral or leopard prints for a more sophisticated look. But, if you want to go all RED, please do so. Me? I am not so brave, but it could be fun! Don't forget to look for some accessories to enhance your look and wear red bold lipstick.

Hola Queridas! No puedo estar más emocionada! Gracias a Polyvore.com tuve la oportunidad de publicar mi PRIMER conjunto en MY blog. Yo sé que para mucho de ustedes esto es como comerce un pedazo de pastel ó como robarle dulces a un niño. Pero para mi, a quien no le gusta leer instrucciones y prefiere resolver las cosas por su cuenta; es un gran acontecimiento.
De todas maneras, hay algo que deben saber de mi: Me encanta el color rojo. Me encanta, me encanta. De hecho me encantan todos los tones del rojo (son el color durazno, el coral y el naranja tonos del rojo?) porque son tan vibrantes y llenos de vida y en mi opinion, el mejor secreto para combatir un decaído estado de ánimo.
Entonces, llegando al punto: Ya estoy buscando por algunas piezas de ropa para este otoño ya que parece que vamos a caer en ROJO.
He obtenido muchas ideas del catálago de otoño de Ann Taylor. Tienen vestidos, faldas, blusas y accesorios que le hacen honor a la tendencia del color rojo. Y por supuesto, es también una buena idea el mezclar tus piezas con estampados de flores o de leopardo para un look más sofisticado.
Pero, si quieres ir toda de rojo, por favor hazlo. Yo? No soy tan valiente, pero podría ser divertido! No olvides buscar por algunos accesorios que realcen tu atuendo y de ponerte lápiz labial rojo vivo.

I am more of a classic and feminine kind of gal, but I took a chance when I bought this at Anthropologie last summe and I don't regret it. I love the color, love the detail of the flowers and love that it can be dress up with a pair of black pants and a blazer of the same color for the office or dress down with a pair of jeans or cropped pants for a......well, a BBQ.
I am also loving my James Jeans jeans, they are the perfect fit for my body type. I hope you enjoy!

Cómo va su fin de semana?
Quería compartir con ustedes lo que llevé puesto para una barbacoa en la casa de un amigo. Me encanta la blusa que llevé puesta porque el detalle de las flores le da un toque de época romántica. Yo soy de un éstilo más clásico y femenino, pero tomé el riesgo al comprar esta blusa en Anthropologie el verano pasado y no me arrepiento. Me encanta el color, me encanta el detalle de las flores y lo que más me encanta es que se puede usar para ir al trabajo con un pantalon negro y una chaqueta del mismo color ó se puede usar con un estilo casual con un par de jeans o unos pantalones cortos para ir......pues, a una barbacoa.
También me encantan mis James Jeans jeans, son el entallado perfecto para mi tipo de cuerpo. Espero que lo disfruten.

I tried to make something special out of my makeup using a new eyeshadow palette that I got at Sephora, but I didn't accomplish what I wanted. Looking at myself on the mirror, I thought that I had enough makeup on and that it will transfer nicely into a picture, but looking at the pictures I barely see the color of the eyeshadows. Does anyone has an idea of how to make the pictures to look good? How should I take them? I will appreciate any suggestions or tips on this.

Traté de hacer algo especial  de mi maquillaje usando una nueva paleta de sombras para ojos que compré en Sephora, pero no conseguí lo que queria. Viendo mi reflejo en el espejo, pensé que tenía suficiente maquillaje puesto y que se podría transferir muy bien en una foto, pero al ver las fotos apenas y puedo ver el color de las sombras de ojos. Alguien tiene una idea de cómo hacer que las fotos se vean bien? Cómo las debería de tomar? Apreciare cualquier sugerencia o consejo sobre esto.

I hope that all of you had a great week. I was dying to show you my new dress (below) I love this dress! Love it, love it......It is very feminine, it has pockets and the pattern is so beautiful. But, what I loved the must about it is the price that I paid for it. Just $26.00 for a new, unworn BCBG dress. Yes! Isn't that great?
I live in the Williamsburg neighborhood in Brooklyn, NY and recently a new store opened a few blocks from my home: Crossroads Trading Co. As many of you might know, this is a sale, buy and trade clothing store. The first time I passed by, I did not acknowledge it because I am always very skeptical about clothing stores that are not big names. I recently started to follow a new blog by Beth Jones: http://www.bjonesstyle.com
She is so beautiful and has an elegant and unique style that I was very surprised to know that she shops at the Crossroads Trading Co. and by her testimonial of having found lovely pieces of clothing there. So, with her suggestion in mind, I dared to get into the store and I am so happy I did because I found this lovely dress. I feel so pretty! It fits me just right and brings my sweet and girly side.
If you are like me, not a fan of stores like Crossroads Trading Co, do not be so judgmental and give it a try.  You may also be surprise. And as an extra incentive, think of the money that you will save with their incredible low prices.......What smart Ladies we are.

Espero que todos ustedes hallan tenido una buena semana. Me moría de ganas por mostrarles mi nuevo vestido.  Simplemente, me encanta........ Life is Gooooooodddd!

Last week my friends and I were lucky to get out of the city for a few hours. We went to Peconic Bay Winery in North Fork, Long Island two hours away from NYC. We had a great day doing wine tasting and enjoying the view at the vineyards. Also, we went to the beach and enjoyed a delicious picnic. It's very beautiful over there and the weather was perfect! There is nothing more relaxing than a day at the beach, a good glass of wine and the company of good friends. I felt like a fish IN the water, if you know what I mean. Special thanks to all of you, my friends; for sharing this moment with me. Life is good!

La semana pasada, mis amigos y yo tuvimos la suerte de salir de la ciudad por unas horas. Fuimos a Peconic Bay Winery en el norte de Tenedor, Long Island, a dos horas de NYC Pasamos un dia estupendo, degustando vinos y disfrutando de la vista de los viñedos. Tambien fuimos a la playa y disfrutamos de un delicioso picnic. El lugar es muy hermoso y el clima era perfecto! No hay nada más relajador que un día en la playa, una buena copa de vino y la compañía de buenos amigos. Me sentía como un pez en el agua. Un agradecimiento especial a todos ustedes mis amigos por compartir este momento conmigo. ¡Fue increíble!
